Networks Singing and Dancing Their Way To High Ratings

In what could be called the Idol effect, performance reality is popping some summer numbers on the nets.

Last week, ABC's Dancing with the Stars snared 13.5 million viewers, the biggest audience for a summer reality debut since Survivor took off in 2000.

NBC's Hit Me Baby One More Time was the week's top program among young adults, ranking 17th in total viewers with 8.9 million pairs of eyeballs.

And there's more to come: CBS is banking on INXS Rock Star in July to hit a few high notes, while Fox polishes up the Capezios for So You Think You Can Dance.
