Park It: Three More Years for Comedy Central

Dave Chappelle may not want their money, but Matt Stone and Trey Parker will happily continue to spend some serious Comedy Central cash for three more years.

The network has renewed South Park through 2008. The show returns with new episodes in October, and the new contract will kick in starting with the next season.

Personally, I think Stone and Parker should be focussing more energy on a Team America sequel. (Fuck, yeah!)

2 other geekspeak:

  • After ten years, shouldn't these kids be in high school or college by now. Just because Saved by the Bell couldn't get away with a college spin off doesn't mean that South Park can't.

  • Actually, I believe that the reason that Matt and Trey signed on for 3 more years (instead of the expected one) is because Team America was a flop. Judging from the fewer episodes per year and the falling quality of the show, it seems like they don't want to do South Park anymore, and are only there for the money.
