Tonight's Tubliocity

Not a great night of premieres: You have a choice of Hope & Faith's one-hour premiere on ABC, or the nod of another season of Malcolm in the Middle, starring the 37 year old Frankie Muniz.

I'll take the zero.

1 other geekspeak:

  • Is it really that expensive to develop creativity? It not that great ideas aren't out there, its just that the networks and movie studios, which are just tiny divisions of huge corporations, feel the need to go safe and maximize their short term profit.

For this year's two breakout sitcom hits, "My Name is Earl" and "Everybody Hates Chris" were even allowed to be made because of the celebrity of their stars. Jason Lee is listed as a producer for "My Name is Earl", and proabbly had to do a lot of work on his own, because NBCUni wasn't going to buy that pilot on the merit of Vanilla Sky and his Kevin Smith movies (which I must say that I am a fan of).
