Trump Wants Martha Fired

Donald Trump is pointing fingers and laying blame about the plummeting ratings for his Apprentice. And he's blaming good ol' Martha Stewart.

Trump claims the fourth edition of his show is being dragged down in the ratings by Stewart's Wednesday night clone.

Never mind that America is clearly tired of his show, along with reality in general. And nobody watches the Martha Apprentice anyway, so I'm not sure how it really is damaging his mothership version.

Nor do I give a rat's ass.

2 other geekspeak:

  • Having watched a few episodes of the Martha Apprentice, I can say there's nothing wrong with it. It is almost the same exact show as the Trump version, but with its own unique touches.

In fact, there is a lot of good in Apprentice: Martha that is missing from the Donald show. It puts new blood into the same exact competition. All successful reality shows have done something to add new life for each cycle. Survivor goes to new locations. American Idol has different genres and of singers. The Apprentice just has new players, and the same boardroom.

If I was NBC, I would keep The Apprentice as a summer show, with a new host each year. Kinda like how Millionaire has succesfully reinvented itself as a Mon-Fri strip after ABC burned out its high profile network exposure.

Also, how about an Apprentice outside of New York? Not a ripoff like Mark Cuban's show, but something with the quality of a Mark Burnett reality show.

  • Didn't Trump have a hand in the start-up of Martha's version of "The Apprentice"? If so, shouldn't he be taking some of the blame?
