Howard's End on E!

Looks like Howard Stern's show on the E! network may be ending.

A source says the televised version of his popular morning show will end when Stern's contract expires later this month. It's possible another network could eventually pick up the TV rights to the show. Meanwhile, E! will be able to rerun the thousands of episodes that have aired in the 10 years it's been running the show.

Law & Order Faces Law & Order

This item is ripped from the headlines:

Producers of the hit NBC show Law & Order were slapped with a $10,000 fine from the FCC for using unlicensed walkie-talkies that disrupted transmissions from the NYPD.

The FCC said the crew caused interference on the city's public-safety radio pool, the vital communications network used by police, fire and other emergency departments.

It caused at least one crew member to ask, "Is this because I'm a lesbian?"

They Love The 70's

MTV is taking a page from PBS and sending a house full of people to live in ancient times.

The 70's, that is.

On the upcoming series, MTV's The '70s House, twelve demographically appealing punks will go back to a simpler time, a time without the internet, CDs or TiVos to see what the old folks lived like.

Honestly. Was life that different then? And will MTV have the stones to use actual 70's songs in the soundtrack?

Apparently we, as a people, can't get enough Average Joe, and NBC is all too happy to oblige.

They figure you'll stick around afterwards for I Want to Be a Hilton, featuring Paris Hilton's mom. Just say no.

99 Words Under: "Hold My Hand"

Here's our 99 word recap of this week's Six Feet Under.

Flashback: George’s mother killed herself in front of him. Nice. Claire announces she’s moving to Spain, Ruth cuts off her trust fund and they nearly come to blows. Federico meets “groupie” Angela at a convention and they have a Funyun-fueled one-nighter. David’s arrest for soliciting a gay prostitute kills the adoption bid, so instead, he and Keith interview an enthusiastic surrogate. Brenda dines at a colleague’s house, making her crave a stronger family. Ruth finds rotting food in George’s pockets and falls deeper into depression. George needs another shock treatment but doesn’t want the miserable, shunning Ruth to know.

The Geek in Chief writes 99 Words Under every Tuesday, after watching the show in HD (five times clearer picture- twelve times more depressing than analog TV).

The 4400 in 44: "Weight of the World"

Here's this week's 44 word recap of The 4400.

A returnee can make people lose TONS of weight. At what cost? Their appetites & their lives! Collier “gets it on” with a Madonna-wannabe. Kyle blacks out again. Richard and Lilly keep running. Maia’s visions save a motorcyclist’s life. Sean will inherit Collier’s fortune!

(joevideo's commentary: To be honest, this episode sucked. It was typical season-filler material. Nothing major really happened that advanced the overall plot. Here's hoping for next week....)
