Let's Hope Carrot Top Doesn't Win

American Idol executive producer Simon Cowell will help create a new variety talent competition for NBC.

The series will audition the best amateur singers, dancers, comedians and novelty acts. The prize? You get to headline your own act in Vegas.

Sure sounds like a pale imitation to me. Luckily for NBC, that sems to be just fine with reality viewers.

NBC Crucified Over Britney Booking

NBC has issued a statement regarding the upcoming Britney Spears/Will & Grace stunt casting brouhaha.

Religious groups have been in an uproar, calling NBC anit-Christian after it was reported the singer would play a mocked religious TV personality who'd emcee a cooking segnemt called "Cruci-fixin's."

According to the network, "Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of Will & Grace, which, in fact, has yet to be written," the network said in a statement, which was disseminated to its affiliates. "The reference to 'Cruci-fixins' will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all. We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this misinformation has offended them."

Suuuuuuuuure. Spin much?

To Chappelle- and Back?

Dave Chappelle, who walkied off his hit Comedy Central sketch show, told Oprah Winfrey he'd consider returning to the show under the right circumstances.

By "right circumstances," he means having the network restructure the $50 million deal so a bigger portion of the profits will go to charity.

Hey Dave- I wouldn't wait for the phone to ring.

Meanwhile, Comedy Central has hacked together four new episodes of Chappelle's Show with never-before-seem material that Chappelle shot before his famous walk-off.
